Extreme Festival Tour gets international flavour with 2025 calendar

The Extreme Festival is South Africa’s premier circuit-racing tour

Next year’s Extreme Festival tour calendar will have an international feel as tour management announces its 2025 calendar.

Having originated in 2014, all series that competed on the former Motorsport South Africa Super Series national tour joined the Extreme Festival in 2015. Next year, starting its 11th season as the premier national circuit racing tour, the Extreme Festival will continue to build on successfully introduced concepts in recent years, such as dedicated line-ups. 2025 will also see further expansions of marketing activities aimed at placing Extreme Festival as the preferred option for marketing opportunities in South African motorsport.

National & Regional Extreme Festival Rosters

The National Extreme Festival roster will again see the South African Touring Car Championship, SATC SupaCup, Astron Energy Polo Cup, Volkswagen Rookie Cup, SunBet ZX10 Masters Cup, Extreme SuperCars Driven by Dunlop, and Gazoo Racing South Africa Cup Powered by Netstar in action. A much-anticipated new addition to the tour will be the new MSA4 Championship, which will replace the Investchem Formula 1600 series. The latter served as South Africa’s leading single-seater series since 2017. As with the previous series, the MSA4 will include the Formula Ford Kent brigade at some events.

The Regional Extreme Festival Roster will feature the Mobil 1 V8 Supercars, DOE Formula Vee Partnered with CIM Lubricants, BMW ///M Performance Parts Race Series. PABAR Volkswagen Challenge, Ferro Energia 111 & GT Sports & Saloons, and SuperHatch. This leg will also feature a yet-to-be-announced circuit motorcycle racing series.

The new MSA4 Series will debut in 2025

Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit Showpiece Returns

One of the success stories of the 2024 Extreme Festival was April’s visit to the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit. Both the National and Regional Extreme Festival rosters combined for what has been the biggest local motorsport-only event at the circuit since its grand reopening in 2016. This event will again feature on the 2025 calendar.

The successful Kyalami Extreme Festival double-header will again be on the 2025 calendar

Maiden Event Outside South Africa’s Borders

The 2025 calendar will include a visit to the Autódromo Internacional de Maputo. This will mark the first time the Extreme Festival extends beyond South Africa’s borders.

While previous seasons have seen the circuits located in South Africa’s seaside provinces being alternated as the coastal venue for the Regional Extreme Festival roster, the 3.7-kilometre situated on the shoreline of the Mozambican capital has been selected for this purpose in 2025.

Strong relations between the Extreme Festival and the Automobile and Touring Club of Mozambique, the governing body of motorsport in Mozambique, have existed since 2021 already, when the country’s Picanto Cup first joined one of the Extreme Festival weekends.

Another motorcycle series will join the tour in 2025
