Red Star Raceway outside Delmas was treated to a weekend (3-4 October) of top-class Extreme Festival Presented By Coca-Cola action as the first of the regional roster’s 2025 champions were crowned in the season’s penultimate event.
Saturday’s packed programme started with the ATE VW Challenge. Anthony Lessing (PABAR Volkswagen Polo), one of several additional entries to the previously communicated field, topped Class A in the day’s first race from Jayden Goosen (AA Pre-Owned Volkswagen Polo), the class leader. Wayne Masters (Performance Masters Volkswagen Polo) completed the podium. This trio again topped the class in Race 2, but this time it was Goosen who took the win, with Lessing as runner-up.
In Class B, it was the defending Series champion, Stuart Mack (Autozone Volkswagen Polo), who beat Mauro de Luz and Jonathan Konig in both races.
In Class C, Adriaan de Beer (Ukwazi Engineering Volkswagen Polo) took the Race 1 win from Bryce Pillay (Designlab Volkswagen Polo) and Kyle Petersen (Insurisk Volkswagen Polo). Race 2 saw Pillay beat De Beer on the circuit, but a post-race enquiry resulted in the pair changing positions. This time, it was Dimitri Zapheriou (Insurisk Volkswagen Polo) who completed the podium.
Results for Classes B & C remain provisional and will only be confirmed on Wednesday, 8 October.

The BMW ///M Performance Parts Race Series delivered a host of good battles and challenges.
In Class A, it was Rick Loureiro (Combined Racing BMW F30 335i) who won both races, but it was his brother Paulo Loureiro (BMW F30 335i) who stole the show. Race 1 saw him rapidly trying to slice through the field after some confusion, while the cars were let onto the circuit, which resulted in him having to start from the pits. He finished second, a position he repeated in Race 2, but this time he jumped the start, resulting in a subsequent penalty that relegated him to third. Leon Loubser (Monaco Motors BMW E92 335i) completed the Race 1 podium and gained a spot due to Lourerio’s penalty to finish Race 2 in second place.
The defending Series champion, Renier Smith (Fast Development E36 M3 Turbo), took both wins in Class B, despite struggling with power steering issues. Lenard Archer (ACD Welkom BMW E90 335i) took both runner-up spots. Andreas Meier (CEC E36 320iT STC) completed the Race 1 podium, but mechanical issues in Race 2 saw him finish a lap down, with Ethan Coetzee (Ethan Coetzee Motorsport BMW F30 340i) in third place.
In Class C, Hein van der Merwe (SavSpeed Racing E36 328i Turbo) won Race 1 from Bennie Luyt (ITA Security BMW E46 M3), with Salvi Gualtieri (Eataly Foods BMW E36 328i) completing the podium. Reinhardt Miller (Amtec E36 325i Turbo) put his Red Star Raceway blues to bed in Race 2 with a win over Van der Merwe, while Gualtieri again completed the podium.

Andre van Vuuren (Curvent International E36 325i Turbo) was the first to take the flag in Class D, but received a 30-second penalty for overtaking under yellow flags. This saw Bernard de Gouveia (De Gouveia Accountants BMW E46 M3) take the win from Troy Cochran (Tyre Mart Boksburg BMW E36 M3). Karabo Malemela (Liqui-Moly BMW E46 330i), who broke into Class D on Friday, was the fourth driver to cross the line, but had his own 30-second penalty for a jump start. Johan Miller (Hei-Jo Trans BMW E36 328I) took the final podium spot. However, Van Vuuren bounced back with the Race 2 win over De Gouveia, with Gerald Anthony (P4A Fabricators BMW F82 M4), another late entrant, completing the podium.
Eddie Rodrigues (Eddie7Racing BMW BMW E46 330i) took both the Class E wins. In Race 1, he beat Phillip Emmenis (Emmenis Racing BMW E36 M3) and Ignus Du Plessis (Doep’s Civils & Plant Hire E82 125i). Emmenis again crossed the line in second place in Race 2, but broke out, which promoted Tihan van Rooyen (Van Rooyen Vision Centre BMW 125i) and Claudio Jardim (Mixbox Automotive BMW E36 330i).
Class F had a different look to it after Kyan Boodaya (Wardens Cartage BMW F30 330D) and Zaheer Seedat (Saltwater Marketing E36 328i) broke out on Friday. While Henry Platt (Mosco Specialised Contractors BMW E36/7 Z3), Philip Mostert Jnr (Mosco Specialised Contractors E36 330i), and Arri van Heerden (V-Tek Motorsport BMW E30 318i) were the first three over the line in Race 1, the final result looked very different. Platt and Van Heerden received 30-second penalties for passing under yellow, while Mostert Jnr broke out. This saw Zeyad Ismail (Viper Automotive BMW E36 328i) take the win from Mike Grobler (Dunlop BMW E46 330i Touring), with Platt completing the podium. Platt won Race 2. Second-placed Van Heerden broke out, with Grobler and Ismail completing the podium.

The Dunlop V8 Supercars provided a good spectacle, particularly in Race 2. Warren Lombard (Pep Boys Automotive Ford Mustang) took Saturday’s first race from Thomas Reib (Café 9 Automotive), who switched to a recently acquired Chevrolet Corvette, in place of the Chevrolet Lumina he usually pilots. Terry Wilford (Wilford Racing Ford Mustang) completed the podium. The reverse-grid second race saw Wilford hold off Lombard and Reib for the win, after a very close contest in the final stages.
The Investchem MSA4 brigade, from the national roster, joined the action at Red Star Raceway. Race 1 saw points leader KC Ensor Smith (African Heating) beat Renzo Ribeiro (Metal Used Spares & Rebuilds) and Mikel Bezuidenhout (Corsa dei Gemali). The latter took the win from Ensor-Smith in Race 2 after a close battle, with Malemela, one of the drivers competing in more than one series on the day, completing the podium in his KMFT Morita-backed car.

Behind them, the Formula Ford Kent brigade battled it out in their final outing of the season. Rick Morris (Investchem) narrowly beat Allen Meyer (Investchem) and Ronald van Weely (Magnificent Paints & Hardware) in Race 1. Morris and Meyer continued their battle in the second race, but this time with the pair finishing second and third, with Ian Schofield (Investchem) taking the win.

The DOE Formula Vee Partnered With CIM Lubricants series was the first to see a champion crowned on the day, with Lendl Jansen (Bull Security Rhema 2) retaining his title. This after finishing second in Race 1, after a good tussle with winner Gert van den Berg (DOE Quality Parts Rhema 2), and with Theodore Vermaak (DOE Quality Parts Forza) completing the podium. The battle continued in Race 2, with Van der Berg and Jansen taking the runner-up spots, but it was Vermaak who took the win.

The second champion came in the ACD Welkom 111 & GT Sports & Saloon Series’ GT Class. Wouter Roos (Origen Oil Volkswagen Golf 7) took the honours after his two second-place finishes. In both races, late entrant Jarred Rossouw (Volkswagen Polo SupaCup) won, with Jonathan Visser (Auto Express Car Service Volkswagen Polo) third.

Wayne Robb (Ford Focus 225 ST) beat Piet Potgieter (Nathan’s Motorsport Volkswagen Polo) twice in Class A. Wayne Lobotschy (Shield Volkswagen Golf) won Class B in Race 1, with Mike O’Sullivan (All Things Motoring Honda Ballade) second and a lap down, following a similar pre-race confusion to that which hampered Paulo Loureiro in the first BMW ///M Performance Parts Race Series outing. In Race 2, O’Sullivan was the sole Class B finisher after Lebotschy’s Golf ground to a halt on the formation lap. In Class C, Keegan Nathan (Nathan’s Motorsport Volkswagen Polo) beat Christopher Tait (Sportex) and Rob Clark (Containerforce Self Storage Honda Ballade) in both outings.
Sharing the circuit with them was the SuperHatch field. Leon Bredenkamp (Trans Africa Racing Honda Civic beat George Aldrich (Aldrich Racing Opel Corsa) twice in Class T2. Ismael Baloyi (Trans Africa Racing Honda Civic) and Mark Du Toit (Trans Africa Racing BMW 118i) shared the Class A wins, with Joshua du Toit (Trans Africa Racing Honda Civic) taking both Class B wins.

While the Formula Ford Kent season has come to a close, everyone else will now head to Zwartkops Raceway for the season finales. The Investchem MSA4 Championship will conclude at the first of these events, on 24-25 October, along with the rest of the national roster. The regional roster’s final outing, on 7-8 November, will conclude the 2025 Extreme Festival Presented By Coca-Cola tour.
